SAN DIEGO, CA – March 7, 2008 – To meet the changing media habits and preferences of consumers, The San Diego Union — Tribune is further evolving into a dynamic multimedia company by introducing an electronic edition of its newspaper.
Available at eedition.uniontrib.com and via a link on SignOnSanDiego.com’s Homepage, the electronic edition contains the same editorial content and advertising in the exact layout as the print edition.
“Our electronic edition pairs the convenience of online content with the familiar feel and design of a hard-copy newspaper,” said Jeanne Driscoll, sales channel and business development manager. “This new feature reflects the fact that we are continually looking for new ways to deliver information to consumers when and how they want the news.”
The Union-Tribune has partnered with Pressmart Media Ltd., a global leader in online publishing services, to create its electronic edition. Pressmart provides advanced solutions for publishing electronic editions of newspapers, magazines and other published materials using multiple distribution channels.
“We are extremely excited to have been chosen by the Union-Tribune to be their eEdition partner. San Diego had a choice of partners and they chose Pressmart Media due to our continued commitment to provide unique, state-of-the industry publisher solutions,” commented Myles M. Fuchs, president, Pressmart Media Limited.
With the Union-Tribune’s electronic edition, readers can search full articles, advertisements and photographs. There are approximately 147 newspapers in the United States with a paid electronic edition. The launch of the Union-Tribune’s electronic edition was accelerated to reach readers throughout the county during the October wildfires. A seven-day subscription of the electronic edition is now available.
In addition to its print newspaper and electronic edition, the Union-Tribune will continue to update SignOnSanDiego.com with the latest breaking news 24 hours a day, seven days a week and support stories with multimedia reports — including video and audio — online forums, blogs and more.
